Friday's Flowers: Lux

Were the eye not of the sun,
How could we behold the light?
If God's might and ours were not as one,
How could His work enchant our sight?

Calico Light

I love the morning light! It's soft and warm, and ever so peaceful.

The heel on the first sock is finished and I'm making great progress knitting up the leg. I'm delighted with how these socks are turning out!

Knit on!

Field to Needles: The Purple Edition

We have really taken good advantage of our local Farmer's Market this season.

I think I've mentioned before about our ritual of going to breakfast and then across the street to the local Market on Saturdays. Every week more vendors show up with their harvests and wares; tomatoes are slowly appearing on the stands and the corn is amazingly sweet!

These purple potatoes are gorgeous and remind me of something...

hmm....any guesses before you scroll down for the answer?

RSC May: Cleopatra's Stockings pattern designed by Yarnissima in 'Incredible Shrinking Violet' STR lightweight! Ok, off to dinner now...can you guess what we're having?!

Hot Stuff!

IGK was correct! The "Fall Back" (aka Spring Forward) socks were completed before the first day of Autumn!! Yippy Skippy!!

They were soaked, blocked and basking in the warm glow of sunset by yesterday evening.

Friday's Flowers: Flowers of the Sun

Car knitting!

Sock number 2 is coming along...Perhaps it will be complete by the first day of autumn (yippy skippy)!

Mr. NK and I carpool in the mornings. This is a very good thing for the environment and our bank account! However, I get to work a wee bit earlier than necessary so I have started to knit a few rounds in the car while listening to the radio. This is also a very good thing!

Sometimes I pull out the camera to see what shakes out. This was one of those times.

Happy Wednesday-almost-Thursday!

Calico Toes

It was time to cast on for more socks. I dove into the stash...this skein had been literally shouting at me for the past year. It's STR 'Calico'.

Go figure...the 'Calico' skein wanted to become a Monkey sock, or so it told me...and far be it from me not to oblige!

To shake things up a bit I'm doing these guys toe-up!

Keeping cool

Ahhh, yes! It was hot here this weekend...as in really hot. And humid. All rules for tolerable weather were broken. Hence, much knitting time was had indoors...in the AC.

In honor of the olympic season, the Gumdrop socks did their version of a victory lap in the blocking pool. Yeppers. They are done!! They fit beautifully. These are my favorite RSC socks so far. I will leave you with one more image to tide you over until the FO shoot is complete.

Friday's Flowers: Morning Rain

I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,

And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,

And all that I hear as I lie in my bed

Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

I step very softly,

I walk very slow,

I can't do a handstand--

I might overflow,

So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--

I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.

Goody, goody

I've not been resting on my laurels, nor has any grass been growing under my feet. Progress has indeed been made on the second Gumdrop sock! Yippy skippy! I've just started to turn the heel (short row; St st). I heart this pattern!!

If you're curious about the needles: I'm knitting the sock using the magic loop. While doing the heel, I keep the instep st on the circular needle and work the heel on dpn at least one size smaller than the circ needle.

Happy Thursday!

Picots and Petals

Some progress has been made on sock #2 of the Fall Back aka Spring Forward socks. I love this pattern! These lilies were available at the local Farmer's market last Saturday, and of course they made it home with me as the color reminded me of something...hmm...could it be the current socks in progress?

Okokok...to be perfectly honest...I always carry my SIPs with me, and while at the market I match them to the produce and flora...I'm sorry, did someone whisper "obsessed"??

I hope you're not running for cover at more lily pictures...I promise, once the tomatoes ripen I will switch obsessions course!

And IGK, resistance is futile...cast on, already!! You can do it all!! I know you can :)

Knit on!
