Rolling along

The Crooked Brook socks are coming along.

Look at that glorious sunshine!

We had a wonderful weekend here in the Pacific NW! Sunny and hot. We had breakfast al fresco Sunday morning at the local cafe.

Although I had a wee bit of work, most of the weekend was spent doing fun things. Fun things like going to an outdoor wedding, knitting and photography (500+ captures over two days), including a lovely photowalk with a friend whilst exploring the surroundings with our cameras.

Mr. NK and I wish you a very happy Monday!!

Friday's Flowers: Roger for Orange

A special post for a special person, Knitspot Anne.

Anne is launching her new pattern, 'Roger' today. The Roger sock is one of a new line of pattern designs that pays tribute to the awesome men who wholeheartedly give their support to the knitterly and fibery passions of the women in their lives.

Giving is the operative word here.

MS is close to Anne's knitterly heart, too, as her father died from it. She has long been a supporter of Claudia and for many years has run booster campaigns to help Claudia reach her donation goals. This year is no different. From today through June 25th, Anne is giving all the proceeds from the sales of this delectable pattern to support Claudia's MS ride. Anne you rock!!

And if that wasn't enough. Chris, of Briar Rose Fibers, the artist behind this amazing yarn and the wife of the namesake of these socks, is generously donating a wonderful basket of gifts (see...the giving thing again...it's so easy to do) that will be gifted to one lucky (very lucky, indeed...go check out the basket here) pattern purchaser! Sweet!!

What more can I say? 'Roger' is quintessential Anne. The pattern is memorizable, fun, the fit is amazing, the fabric is squishy and comfy, and it's a quick knit! The Briar Rose yarn I used (thank you Anne and Chris!) is perfect for these socks, and the autumn color is perfect for moi!

So, if'n you need a new sock pattern for your summer knitting, please consider supporting Claudia and her Knitters Against MS team, as well.

If you're wondering about the orange theme...it's the color of MS.

Thank you Anne and Chris!! You ladies are awesome!!

wish list

Oh how I wish I could actually sit and enjoy this breakfast that feeds the body and the sole. A relaxing morning is definitely on the wish list...but it'll have to wait for now.

Black Sheep Gathering is this weekend...a great reward for a very busy week.

Since no day is in balance without a little pink, I will end this post here.

Happy Friday-eve!!

Tuesday's trappings

Some knitting was accomplished this past weekend!

A little Roger knitting...the 19th is just around the corner...I need to get crackin' on these!!

You might remember this sweet thing. I started these socks a little bit ago, but the size didn't seem right.

A little loose.

I ripped.

But I'm back on track now.

Happy Tuesday!!

Friday's Flowers: Critters

It has been a delight to look for the critters in the garden this year!

Sometimes they just sit still and model perfectly for you...I think Mr. Froggy is even smiling in this image!

This little guy stood still forever for me...isn't he cool looking? He's as delicate as the peony he's perched on...and he even kind of matches, doesn't he?

Sometimes they blend in so that you can barely see them.

Trust me. There is a critter in this photo, too. He is very small, and I didn't see him until he moved during the capture. Click on the image and see if you can find him! I'm thinking there might even be two critters in this image...what do you think?

Truly, I spent about 45 minutes and 200 shots with this little girl. She was totally entertaining. She was scampering in and out of the folds of the petals of this worn out rose. Then she would burrow deep into the blossom and wait for me to go away. As soon as my attention was cast to another bud, she'd reappear and commence traversing her floral terrain.

Fascinating.

How lucky I was to catch sight of these ladybugs two nights in a row!

It was a good week, indeed.

I hope you all have a brilliant weekend!

Look what's cookin'

Big crumb coffee cake with fresh Farmer's Market rhubarb ala Smitten Kitchen via Kirsten (thank you Kirsten!!!). I'm not thrilled with the photo of the finished coffee cake, needless to say it was quite tastey so the option for a re-do photoshoot wasn't a possiblity!! Oh well, that's a good excuse to make it again!! It looks like SK sprinkled powdered sugar on her coffee cake, I think that would've been a good idea.

And the socks...well those are part of a fun plan cooked up by Anne!! More on that next week!
