unexpected

Expect the unexpected, and whenever possible, be the unexpected.
~ Lynda Barry

New yarn. Unexpected.
Old pattern. Expected.
New venue. Unexpected.

Two out of three isn't bad.

nouveau

A chill has returned to the air.
Misty mornings abound.
Scarves and wool socks have been pulled out from storage.
Leaves are turning red and gold.
This is my time of year...and I'm loving' it!

Finally. Something new on the needles.
The knitting is slow, but sure.
Very slow...truth be told.

Too many leaves to chase.

I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.

ready

It has been awhile since I last posted.
A long while. I seemed to have missed all of November.

I finished these lovelies while the autumn sun was still warm.

And now it's cold and I'm ready to wear them.

The perfect boot toppers to these little yellow boots!

out and about

I cannot endure to waste anything as precious
as autumn sunshine by staying in the house.
So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.
~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

Much like Mr. Hawthorne, I'm taking advantage of the beautiful autumn days
here in the Pacific Northwest.
The rains are here, so when it is dry I'm out and about.
Even when it isn't dry, you may catch me in the leaves.

autumn rainbow

Is this colorway gorgeous, or what?

It's 'Autumn Rainbow' from Lorajean of Knitted Wit fame!
This is her new Victory Sock yarn base.

And because I couldn't decide which sock pattern to do -
I'm doing both Toasty Twist and Mad Color Weave
in the same sock.
Whackadoodly.
It's how I roll.

To say I love this yarn is an understatement.
A big understatement.
Big.

My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky.

autumn prepper

 I'm ready for autumn.
Crisp days.
Rain.
Falling leaves.
A steaming cup of coffee to warm my hands.
Handknits on hands, neck, and feet.

Soon.

Very, very soon.

And I'll be ready.

Four steps to achievement:
Plan purposefully.
Prepare prayerfully.
Proceed positively.
Pursue persistently.

of strength and determination

Permanence, perseverance and persistence
in spite of all obstacles, discouragement, and impossibilities:
It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak.

belief

I spent the afternoon in a park yesterday.
Everyone needs to take some time
to take in the crisp autumn air...

...to explore a little...

...and to sit a little...

...quietly.

Believe you can and you're halfway there.

heart paths

Look at every path closely and deliberately, then ask ourselves this crucial question:
Does this path have a heart?
If it does, then the path is good.
If it doesn't, it is of no use.

arriving

We went for a little road trip this past weekend.
We explored two states and 5 counties.
I shot everything from street to moon by the time we headed home.

I took socks with me just in case there was an opportunity for a glamour shot!

flutterbliss

Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day!
Every leaf speaks bliss to me,

solitude

Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted.
Only in a quiet mind is adequate perception of the world.
~ Hans Margolius

I'm aiming to balance work with play this weekend,
How about you? Maybe a visit to a local pumpkin patch??
Do tell!!!

Have a good one! xo
