dapple

A mini-vacay is the perfect time to play in the yarn stash and stitch dictionaries. This yarn recently arrived and is from Skein.

This is a new to me fiber artist and I'm totally smitten with her colorscapes. This color is Dapple, and I can totally see light coming through a dense canopy of branches to bounce off the leaves from the foliage below. Of course, in my mind's eye, it's autumn foliage!

I asked Mr. NK to pick a color for the next pair of socks, he picked green...I picked this skein.

Did you know that Green is:

Soothing
Relaxing mentally as well as physically
Helps alleviate depression, nervousness and anxiety
Offers a sense of renewal, self-control and harmony

A perfect color for winter! :)

Green is the prime color of the world,
and that from which its loveliness arises.

cielo

Something new.

Something blue.

Did you all have a fantastic holiday?? We spent ours quietly with family and friends. Just how we like it!

I thank you God for this most amazing day,
for the leaping greenly spirits of trees,
and for the blue dream of sky
and for everything which is natural,
which is infinite,
which is yes.

lubov

Another FO...just in time for the holidays!!

It's the Lubov scarf by Grumperina found in Brave New Knits.

The pattern was straight forward and a fairly quick knit,

I just didn't get the length I expected from it.

And look...a sunny afternoon to accompany the photoshoot!

Don't let it fool you...it was chilly...I had to put on the socks I intended to photograph to stay warm!! (yep...birenstocks, no socks...not anymore!)

It's Friday-eve and Christmas-eve-eve--Yippy Skippy!!

I need to finish up some other projects, get to the grocery store before everyone else, and do a wee bit of house cleaning, very wee...so I better sign off.

I'm not sure I'll be back before the holiday, so let me wish you all a very wonderful and magical holiday season! I hope all your wishes come true!! xo

Christmas is not a time nor a season,
but a state of mind.
To cherish peace and goodwill,
to be plenteous in mercy,
is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

an invincible summer

What better day to walk through a summer garden than on the winter solstice?

Welcome to Babette's Garden!

You won't need your winter woolies or golashes today! Grab your summer parasol, a glass of lemonade and let your stroll begin...don't forget to close the gate behind you!

In the depths of winter
I finally learned there was in me an invincible summer.

twice beauty

Fin. Finished. Completed. Done!!

Beautiful pink spirals...

...off...

...or on...I love these socks!

from the top of their twisted rib

to the the curve of their heel...

from the gusset to the tips of their kitchenered toes...

I love these socks!! The pattern, the color, the fit...perfect!!

I'm a seriously happy camper!!

Now that you know what's up with me...how're you? Did you have a good weekend?

What makes you a happy camper?

Beauty is twice beauty
and what is good is doubly good
when it is a matter of two socks
made of wool in winter.

catching up

Our internet is back...yay!!! We had a little connectivity problem this week...and it took UPS 4 days to deliver a next day shipment of a new part...sigh.

That being said...a lot of knitting was accomplished.

Who's watching The Sing-Off??? I got sucked in cuz' of the U of Oregon group, On the Rocks. Heart them, but they're off now (sniff). Are you voting? I'm torn, but I think I'll support Backbeats and Jerry Lawson & Talk of the Town.

Did you notice? We had a splash of sunshine yesterday!

It's Friday, and I'm starting off the weekend right...with dessert! Some friends and I are having a little dessert-fest to welcome the holiday season. We're all bringing our knitting and empty tummies!

What're you up to this last weekend before Christmas? I hope you all have a sweet and lovely weekend!! xo

and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.”

my colors

Say hello to 'Canopy' by Sam Roshak. One of the last two sock patterns from RSC 2010.

The colorway has no name yet...there's a club contest to officially name it, but I've dubbed it "my colors"! Because...well...they are!! :)

Can't you just see the leaves twirling around your ankles, feel the crisp air in your face, smell the woodstoves burning?

How could I not knit the sock that had a modified picot edge? I modified it a bit more, but stayed true to the vision of the designer.

I love this color. Love. It.

And the little eyelets that continue spiraling around the leg and down the foot are way too cute.

Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time
like dew on the tip of a leaf.

pink me up

Sunset brought out some of the warmer tones in the Helix socks.

Partial cloudy skies returned the next day, bringing cooler tones with them.

It's kind of like getting two colors for the price of one!! Woot!!

No complaints here...a little bit of sun is better than none! And I've got all my pinks to keep things bright and happy!

What color keeps you happy?

you didn't know you left open.
