the patient
I think most of you have met Gibson (he even as his own category on the blog!!). Also affectionately known as the Gibster. He is a very special kitty!
Sweet thing has been through a rough patch culminating in oral surgery last week to remove two more teeth...
and his first ever major hair cut to make his skin feel better, as he can no longer be on some of his most helpful allergy medication. He is so cute with this new hair cut..tears welled up when I first saw him. He's doing really well and has been very cuddly...not only are we Pez dispensers, we are now space heaters for the little guy!
I think the lion cut serves him well!
Happy Tuesday!! mewmewmew!

the way to the heart
A few weeks ago, I did a little baking for Mr. NK as I would be missing Valentine's day with him.
Little did I know that cupcakes would be following me throughout that weekend! No complaints here!
The cupcakes were inspired by the mint patty recipe I saw in Food Network magazine.
I mostly used the chocolate cupcake recipe from Ina Garten,
but doctored it up with a
peppermint buttercream layer...
...topped with a chocolate ganache.
Gibson approved!

of witches and weekends
Ahhh...Tuesday at last! It couldn't come fast enough!
The weekend had its ups and downs. On the down side, my laptop seemed to go belly up. This was after the satellite box went kaplooey. I revived the satellite, but I don't know whether the 'puter patient can be saved yet...fingers are crossed.
Moving onto the bright side, yes-- there is ALWAYS a bright side--we did have a great time with dear friends on Saturday evening, and we went to my folks' place on Monday for dinner and decompression time.
And look!
Something new on the needles. It's the Crooked Brook pattern (Woolgirl sock club) being knit in the Glinda Oz kit yarn by Madelinetosh.
Like Mr. Gibson, I'm ready for some nap time...but alas...Tuesday not only marks the end of a long (in all meanings of the word 'long') weekend, but the beginning of a new work week. Thank goodness it's a short week. I can wait 4 days for nap time!
Happy Tuesday!

Keeley
Ahhh...the title of this post should make you catch your breath and strike awe into your very soles! At least a resounding round of "yippy skippy" should be cast. Yes, the rarely seen and frequently doubted existence of our third cat has been documented for all of blogland to witness...well, my three readers at least!
We think Keeley is stunningly gorgeous. Adorable at the very least. She is tempermental and painfully shy. Most of her days are spent in the closet or under the bed. We love her and wish she would surface more frequently. She comes out to snuggle with me at bedtime because, 1) well, you know...she's the boss, and 2) the best place to cuddle is to plant herself between me and my reading material (Breaking Dawn at the moment).
How fitting that she should share her time on the blog with another Rare Gem...this Tesserae sock.
The other morning she was sitting in the chair at the dining table (aka photostudio/computer desk) and the light was perfect. She was very patient and still as I gathered my camera and tripod. I had to stealthily divert Mr. NK as he padded down the hallway as I knew she would bolt if he made it all the way to the dining room.
She was patient.
I was as fast as possible.
20 some odd shots were taken, and then she flew down the hall.
Diva.

Sunday mornings with Gibson
Sunday through Sunday our mornings start off with an alarm lock that "mews" rather than buzzes. This photo is not a set up...I walked into the bedroom and this is what I witnessed (ahem...I'm the early riser of the family). I ran for my camera, set it up, and waited for the snooze time to expire and for the alarm to ring (paw) again.
Toast from freshly baked bread ala Mr. NK.
Welcome to the world of Gibson.
After all the work in getting his people up, breakfast, and protecting balls of yarn from rolling off the table, it was time for Mr. Gibson to take a little nap himself.
I hope your Sunday is half as restful as Gibson's!
