break fast

There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want.
 ~ Bill Watterson

Taking a little break from the hustle and bustle of the season.

It's Christmas Eve.
The presents are almost all wrapped.
Groceries are purchased and ready for prep.

Seems like a good time for a wee nap.

Wishing you all the very best this holiday season!

invincible

We were hit by a big...huge...snow storm this past weekend.

I occupied myself with knitting, photography, more knitting, organizing my inks (ROYGBIV and neutrals) and walking in the snow - followed by thawing out fingers (and toes) to resume knitting.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who takes walks in the snow with knitting in one hand
and camera in the other so I can photograph socks in the wild!!
It's how I roll!!

There may also have been a little bit of binge watching of Justified...

...and a little surfing around facebook and youtube.

Just a wee bit.

I hope you all had a great weekend! xo

returning

Fairy tales are more than true:
not because they tell us that dragons exist,
but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.
~ Neil Gaiman

2014. It just couldn't arrive quickly enough for me.
It's here. So far so good.

And the first post of 2014 is of knitting.
So far so good!

pixels 'n prose

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.

From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice
Is also great

And would suffice.

still a thrill

When I no longer thrill to the first snow of the season, I'll know I'm growing old.
~Lady Bird Johnson

We had a wee flurry of snow the other day. It was still a thrill to be sure!!

What are you doing on this penultimate Sunday of 2012?

We're grabbing a sweet moment of quietude after a very busy week. Reading and blogging with steaming coffee at hand ... the fur-kids are curled up and snoozing ... and musical playlists are shuffling along.
Just as it should be ... on the penultimate Sunday of 2012.

I hope you're able to grab a wee spot of quiet this day, too!

beatitude

If you see this from your front door...
...the wise woman turns around and does this.

winter goodness

Nothing can beat hand knit socks on the needles....and the feet...

and exploring new destinations with a camera in hand and a friend.

Wishing you a great weekend! xo

snowcaps

How quickly the weather changed this week. I think the Pacific NW was the last region to get hit by snow.

The crocus above was a willing model very early yesterday morning...just after sunrise...the sunrise that was hidden by a bank of clouds and snow showers that is. The little pink flowers below I captured on my way home from work...I'd been eyeing them for over a week--and with their little snow hats I just had to stop and shoot!

I hope you all have had a great week and are looking forward to some fun this weekend! xo

Constant kindness can accomplish much.
As the sun makes ice melt,
kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust,

long enough.

chillin' out at chez nk

We're supposed to hit the century mark today...i.e. it's going to be sizzling hot.

What do you do to ward off the heat?

Hit the beach?

Maybe travel somewhere

green, cool

and wet?

Or do you reminisce about winters gone by and wish for their return, if even for the moment?

Me? I hit the photoarchives and pull out anything that inspires knitting, hot cocoa (with whip) and layer upon layer of clothing!

Happy Monday!!
