welcome back

Helloooo! Look who's back! Knitting!!

Finally.

Port Ludlow...and some iced tea (wish it had been a beer).

I hooked up with a friend last night and got her started on her first pair of toe-up socks! Actually, her first pair of socks ever!! Very exciting. We got through the toe without a hitch and her sock is looking oh so good!

AI on the other hand had a hitch...one big one...Crystal is runner up (pass that beer iced tea, please). Overall, a pretty good show...until the very end. Honestly, I can't talk about it. It has been a heavy week in TV land with the final episodes of Lost, 24, Law and Order...and now this. Yep...I take my TV very seriously...LOL!! :)

I replayed the last moments of AI and had Mr. NK pinch me...dang, it wasn't a dream! No alternate endings! Sniff.

Oh well...today is another day and Friday is almost here!

Happy Friday-eve!!!

weekend rhythm

The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Where did the time go? I had every intention of starting the week off with a knitting post...
it's now Monday night, and I'm writing Tuesday's post, and still no knitting to speak of.

It seems as though life had other plans. All good stuff...just not knitting.

We had a busy weekend...a party, working, a photography class...seems like every minute was packed!

During a brief moment of calm we sat outside and listened to the rain as it fell in the garden.

Just listened.

A girl couldn't ask for more.

optimism

It's been busy around chez NK these days. A secret knitting project is taking the majority of my time...but I can always squeeze in a wee...a very wee bit...of public knitting.

Have you noticed my wordless wednesdays have become just "wordless"? It's because I fear not being able to get a new post up on Thursday, and it bugs me to have a 'Wednesday' post continue into Thursday, or worse yet--Friday! Since I made the change, I've been successful with Thursday posts...go figure.

We said "bye" to Casey on AI last night. I'm actually kinda sad. Oh well...He'll land on his feet I'm sure.

The rains returned to the Pacific NW with a vengeance tonight...but the roses...ahhh....a sign of hope for the summer that is surely on its way!

bluesday redux

I was so taken with Anne's 'Port Ludlow' sock pattern I decided to use my new Alpha B yarn to make a pair, too.

Concomitantly.

It's a powerful good pattern to be making two pairs of the same sock, conCOMitantly.

Holy moly.

I was at a conference for work on Monday, there was a man documenting the event by shooting pictures of the guest speakers and audience...my burning question was what lenses was he using? Hah. Talk about lost causes. :)

That's all I've got for you today...I hope you're having a great week and are keeping the blues far, far away...unless it's of the merino-cashmere variety!

Mr. NK is smiling cuz I made him say, "Gibson" and he got to finish off dessert...mostly Gibson.

circumnavigation

I saw this little girl the other night and was completely entertained until the sun completely dipped out of sight.

This is the season of ladybugs, spiders and frogs...and I'm loving it!

The peonies seem slow in blossoming...and only two of the three seem to have returned this year in any kind of blooming capacity. Oh well.

I hope your circumnavigation of the weekend leads to lots of fun adventures!! xo

amber waves

newnewnew!!

This is Anne's 'Port Ludlow' sock.

I'm in test knitting heaven. This sock is knitting itself!!

I'm using STR lightweight in the 'Lenka' colorway...I was hesitant, but overall I'm ok with the varigation in the yarn and this stitch pattern.

It's striping beautifully, and when the sock is on and the stitch pattern opens up it is quite lovely.

Do you remember Theo? He's one of our neighbors' kitties. He and his sister Gigi visit alot. It could be secondary to our feeding them...alot! He helped me with last night's photoshoot...let's give him a round of appaws!!

And in AI news: It's going to be Crystal, Casey (yeh baby!), and Lee (meh).

Happy Friday-eve!!!

What does love look like?
It has the hands to help others.
It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy.
It has eyes to see misery and want.
It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men.
That is what love looks like.

bowl of goodness

This was all Turtlegirl's (aka Cristi) fault.

After seeing this post I went ran to Alpha B's shop.

I seem to be entering a blue phase and this 'Princess Aurora' yarn was just the ticket

in a beautiful merino-cashmere-nylon blend.

It is so soft, I can't stand it. And I swear the yarn arrived before I clicked submit! Ok...Anne lives across the river from me, so if you are more than a river away, you might have to acutally wait until a receipt shows up in your in-box, but you get the drift...immediate gratification was definitely afoot!!

I've already cast on and will hopefully be able to show you that project shortly.

Since I'm blaming Cristi for this...I'm not going to consider it a fall off the stash diet wagon...right? Of course, right!! Thank you Cristi!!

Happy Monday!! Wishing you all a great week!!

blue skies

I thank you God for this most amazing day,
for the leaping greenly spirits of trees,
and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural,
which is infinite,
which is yes.
~e. e. cummings

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend filled with blue skies and warm days!

If you're a mom (kitties and pups count, too!)--Happy Mother's Day!! xo

winter mix

We had hail today. Can you believe it? Sigh.

I guess it's still sock weather, which is a good thing

because I'm still working on socks! That's not as surprising as the hail,
which was followed by sun and blue skies. Crazy.

bluesday

We meet again!! Sweet! How was your weekend?

We didn't make it to Multnomah Falls, but we did go to Crafty Wonderland and had a blast!

I saw these little orange flowers at work today, and just had to snip a few as I thought they would coordinate well with these socks.

I usually don't do that kind of thing, but they were growing near the parking lot and I really didn't think the cars would mind if I took just a few...there were many blooms remaining for the cars to enjoy.

I got a fair amount of knitting done over the weekend...the heel flap on this sock is just one of the projects I was working on.
