Forecast

1. One Holidazed is finished; a completed pair is offshore and making its way inland followed by high pressure cast-on warnings for the weekend.

2. More snow, followed by freezing rain, followed by snow throughout the week and into the weekend, with more potential freezing rain. Joy!

3. A winter knitting storm is swirling around my zip code, sure to hit our home within hours. I need to make sure my emergency knitting kit is ready and chairside! (I already have one in the car!).

p.s. can you tell I've been glued to the local weather forecasts!?

First Snow

The snow finally arrived yesterday morning. We bundled up and went to the local cafe for breakfast. Usually I knit through breakfast...but the scenery was too good...

I pulled out the camera and played!

And look...a buried Rare Gem!! There must be some finished Tesseraes near by...probably buried in a snow drift! We'll revisit them after they thaw out!

Encore

I don't think I've formally introduced this pair of socks~~meet STR Muddy Autumn Rainbow. This is the actual yarn that came with the final RSC kit in November. You've already seen the Holidazed pattern in "The Cookie Next Door"!! These socks will be for Mr. NK...he deserves the very best!

Snow is in the forecast for us this weekend! I better get crackin' on these socks so we can keep our toes toasty warm!!

Sweet treats

Holidazed socks by Anne Hanson for RSC 2008: November.
Holidazed arrived just in time to initiate the festivities of the winter season. I think they are the perfect finale for the third year of the Rockin' Sock Club! Everything about the yarn and the pattern was a celebration! They are a perfect sock from cast on to cast off, and like a good cookie...they satisfy your sweet tooth, but leave you craving more! RSC 2009, here we come!

These socks were knit in STR 'The Cookie Next Door', but don't fear, the club yarn is being knit up in this pattern for Mr. NK...you'll be seeing more of those socks shortly!

These socks begged...screamed...I tell you, to be photographed with cookies. How could I resist? The Barefoot Contessa cookbook provided the recipe for the delicious, decadent and Outrageous Brownies you see above.

Bon appetit! Happy knitting! Wishing you a sweet and wonderful weekend!

Spice Pools

The Spice Drops are done!

and this is all that remains...from my emergency skein.

I heart these socks!

Specs:
Pattern: Gumdrops by JC Briar (RSC 2008 July)
Yarn: STR 'Tide Pooling' lightweight (RSC 2008 September)
Needles: 2.5mm circs (magic loop)
Mods: None worth noting. Next time I will figure out how to shorten the cuff by working the pattern into the heel to conserve on yarn a bit.
Fit: Perfect!

Happy Friday eve!!

A Time to Knit

Thank you for the birthday wishes!! Yes, I confess, 'twas I who had a celebration this past week.

It's a cloudy day here in the Pacific Northwest. It was bound to happen. However, no complaints as today is perfect for some knitting, a little football (Notre Dame, IGK...it's on the TV, now!!! Woot) and left over Halloween treats.

Happy Saturday!!

Spice Drops

The incognito RSC September socks are coming along! Incognito because I'm not following the pattern...I'm doing the Gumdrop pattern rather than the Anemone pattern. Since the yarn color is a little warmer and deeper than a "gumdrop" I'm dubbing them Spice Drops.

Odd skein out

Yep. I decided to break from pack. I'm doing the Gumdrop pattern with the Tide Pooling yarn, the September installment of the RSC.

On another note, Leanne Marshall of Portland, OR is in the finals on Project Runway. She has done really well so far! Wednesday is the finale. If you're a regular watcher, I thought Kenley should've been booted off a long time ago. Korto is ok, but a little hit and miss. Go Leanne!!

Back to the needles!

Out of the shadows

Thank you, thank you to Anya at Crazy Crocheter who nominated me for a "Brilliant Blog" award! I'm so touched and honored. I'm a wee bit behind, but I will be posting 7 nominees shortly.

Cleopatra's Stockings are finished! I love these socks. I took advantage of having my camera with me at work the other day and took a few pictures during lunch in my special picture spot.

Happy Monday!

A stitch in time

Almost finished.

How was your weekend? I was busy over here at Chez NK. Lots of things going on. Deadlines all over the place...but I still found a few minutes to begin casting off the Cleopatra's Stockings...I like the EZ Sewn bind off for toe up socks, it's nice and elastic.

Happy Monday!!

A Sock in Seattle

We spent a couple of days in Seattle last week. We spent quite a bit of time walking around the waterfront and checking out the Public Market. Did you know that the vendors close down and take away their wares every night? EVERY. Night. We saw the empty market on one of our early morning walks. Empty. A very strange sight, indeed.

After a long day of walking around Seattle, we quenched our thirst with an Arnold Palmer in the hotel bar. The light was great. You know what came next, don'tcha?!

It cracks me up that the bar staff apparently think it perfectly normal to whip out a sock and to take pictures of it! One Cleopatra's Stocking is finished, and its mate is well on its way to completion!

Happy Monday! And for those that celebrate Labor Day, I hope you're having a great holiday!
