Autumn Joy

Today is the first day of autumn! Yay!

This weekend I was invited by a very special friend to go on a walk with our cameras in tow to capture the sights along a country road in the glorious autumnal light of late afternoon.

It was a beautiful afternoon...blue skies and a slight breeze...we love the autumn, and this was a perfect way to celebrate its beginning! We're both posting our captures so that you can see the 'whole' picture!

This little spider was quite the acrobat!

she deftly moved from one perch...

...to another.

She wasn't the only thing that was literally suspended in thin air!

There are many things that define the transition from summer to autumn.

The change in the light is the most striking.

The sun casts a lovely warm glow

that seems to intensify all the colors in the spectrum.

Look at that blue sky!! Awesome!

Don't be fooled. Nature isn't quite done with these leaves just yet.

They still have a purpose.

This little spider was hunkered down, sound asleep

in her leafy cradle.

The colors of autumn are just beginning to emerge.

and the red ladybugs playing in the last of the white Queen Anne's lace.

Sunset came too fast. Our walk came to an end. But, we have a plan to return to catch the morning light and see what we can see!

Naming this skein 'microbrew' was perfect, as it perfectly captures the variety of shades of the real thing!

Foggy days

Ocean Fog.

A yarn aptly chosen for a new project to start while at the beach, as it was indeed foggy. All weekend. Except for Monday...when we left.

It's all good though. Any weather at the beach is good weather. That would be Mr. NK cheering me on! He's a dang cute blur!! :)

Progress has been slow at best these past couple of weeks.

But there has been progress on the second Sedona sock!

The heel has been turned and the gusset decreases are nearly completed.

We are off to the beach for our anniversary! Road trips are always good for making progress on one's projects!

The cool mornings, tendrils of fog over the fields, shorter days and harvest moons all tell me that autumn is around the corner.

The countdowner on the blog supports this as fact.

But the irrefutable evidence that autumn is around the corner is the return of the pumpkin spice latte.

It's a bit of stash from SS09. A lovely acquisition from Hazel Knits. I had a blast chatting with Wendee and Megann at the booth.

It was a special skein...nameless even.

I believe it's just been dubbed 'PSL'! I hope Wendee doesn't mind! :)

Friday's Flowers: Dahlias

My mom, sister and I went to Canby (home of the flock and fiber festival) for the annual dahlia festival and to peruse the fields last weekend. I think we made it down a dozen rows of one aisle of 40 acres. Yep. Forty acres.

We didn't even cover the tip of the proverbial iceberg!

I hope these sunny, warm images help console those mourning the close of summer. I'm really trying to hold in my exuberation for the fall...I can't last much longer...there are less than 18 days remaining. Don't expect miracles.
