Two heels!

We had a great weekend...in part because it was the barn sale in Blue Moon country (which happens to be my country, too!). Knitterly friends came over for breakfast (early!) (fresh cinnamon pull apart, fruit, eggs and coffee for the inquiring minds among you!) and we headed over to the sale (early!). Shopping and knitting among good friends and new friends...a perfect day, indeed!

Sunday was equally wonderful as it was spent hanging out with Mr. NK and dinner with my sisters. Yum.

Sweet treats

Holidazed socks by Anne Hanson for RSC 2008: November.
Holidazed arrived just in time to initiate the festivities of the winter season. I think they are the perfect finale for the third year of the Rockin' Sock Club! Everything about the yarn and the pattern was a celebration! They are a perfect sock from cast on to cast off, and like a good cookie...they satisfy your sweet tooth, but leave you craving more! RSC 2009, here we come!

These socks were knit in STR 'The Cookie Next Door', but don't fear, the club yarn is being knit up in this pattern for Mr. NK...you'll be seeing more of those socks shortly!

These socks begged...screamed...I tell you, to be photographed with cookies. How could I resist? The Barefoot Contessa cookbook provided the recipe for the delicious, decadent and Outrageous Brownies you see above.

I love getting up close to my knitting.

And at some point...it all boils down to color.

What's cookin'?

We did a bit of knitting and a bit of cooking on Sunday. This sock is simmering along...slowly, but surely. Clearly, it wasn't completed by Thanksgiving...but I've got my fingers crossed to have this pair finished by the first day of winter. We'll see. I'm not gonna stress out...(so she says now!).

And what did I cook, you might ask? You'll have to check back and see! I had to quickly do the photoshoot before the "props" were devoured!

p.s. I can't believe I drank that whole pot of coffee that you see, or rather that you don't see, in the background...hmmm...perhaps an intervention is necessary? NOT!

Debut

The holiday is over. We spent the week with my family in southern California. We had a little family reunion with all my cousins and their children, and their children's children! It was a blast. We returned home last night with renewed gratitude for all of our many blessings. I hope that those of you that celebrated Thanksgiving had a wonderful holiday!

Although I only eeked out one post last week...a lot of knitting was accomplished!

Nueva

Ah yes. The picot is once again in the forefront.

These were going to be Halloween socks...last year. Then this year. Now I'm aiming for Thanksgiving. Needless to say the pattern evolves as the season of completion changes! Oy. At the very least I hope they will be done during the autumn and before the first day of Winter. One can hope.

On another front. If you aren't watching Life on Mars (Thursday on ABC) yet, I would strongly encourage it. The soundtrack is amazing. Let's put it this way...any show that names an episode after a Cat Stevens song AND pops the tune into the soundtrack is totally alright with me! Totally!

Ramblings

Winter is just around the corner. The days are chilly and my socks are patiently waiting their turns to be worn. The last of the leaves are barely clinging to their branches, most of their siblings have long since dropped and are dancing around their matriarchs, catching the last bit of autumn sunlight. I saw that Anne in Ohio had some snow...I'm so envious!
