Charity

The life of a man consists not in seeing visions and in dreaming dreams, but in active charity and in willing service.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The newest offering from Woolgirl's Embrace the Lace club is Charity. This beautiful and luscious (cashmere!!) skein is destined to become a beautiful lace scarf called Heart to Heart ala Sivia Harding.

But, what else is this lovely skein destined to be?

I believe it is meant to ask one to take a moment and tally all of our many blessings, and think about what we can do for others.

Just take a moment.

As long time readers may know, multiple sclerosis is close to my heart. I have dear friends with MS, many of them knitters.

At this time of year, Claudia is doing her Knitters against MS ride to raise much needed funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She lives the "join the movement" motto of the society. And I wholeheartedly support her in this endeavor and invite you to support her, too. This year, the NMSS, like many charities, is suffering financially. Coffers have been run down, and new donations are at an all time low. There is not enough money to fund all the research grants that have been approved and continue to support patients and their families.

The NMSS is but one organization in need of donations to continue to fund their services, educational programs and research.

I would like to encourage you to join me in taking a moment to consider what you might be able to give in time or money to an organization that's close to your heart.

Just take a moment...to do something momentous.

I am only one; but still I am one.
I cannot do everything, but still I can do something;
I will not refuse to do the something I can do.
~ Helen Keller

Beautiful photos, as always. And brilliant to use those oh, so pale blueberries!

Beautifully said. DH and I support higher education, specifically helping gifted low income students through scholarships.

Your new project looks like it's going to be gorgeous!

Oh that is gorgeous yarn!! I don't knit lace, but cashmere lace, in that colorway...okay, I'd make an exception!

Off to go support Claudia again this year!!
