autumn hugs

OFFF was fabulous! Saturday was a gorgeous, perfect autumn day. A girl couldn't ask for more!

I did come away with 2 skeins of STR 'Gail's Autumn Joy'.

Yep, I'm that "Gail". And, autumn is my joy! Last fall I began these.

This year I wanted to knit a shawl.

Something to wrap around me to keep autumn close.

Always.

Something lacey to let the light in.

I'm using this book as a guide to designing my own shawl.

It's going to be a creative fall!

The poetry of earth is never dead:
When all the birds are faint with the hot sun,
And hide in cooling trees,
a voice will run
From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead:

That is the Grasshopper's - he takes the lead
In summer luxury, - he has never done
With his delights, for when tired out with fun,
He rests at ease beneath some pleasant weed.
The poetry of earth is ceasing never:
On a lone winter evening, when the frost
Has wrought a silence, from the stove there shrills
The Cricket's song, in warmth increasing ever,
And seems to one in drowsiness half lost,
The Grasshopper's among some grassy hills.
~John Keats

How lovely to have 'your own' yarn - and such a pretty one, too!

What a great color! Is it available or a rare gem? Great 'hopper photo; he looks like he's on steroids! When you do your Cotty, how long do you make the cuff?

Where can I buy this yarn at? I hope I can. I have a beautiful shawl I would like to make and the yarn is perfect...

I was so close to the festival! And D even said we could go. But he had no idea of how dragging a husband around could impede the experience of my first fibre festival. Glad you had a great time. Love the autumn shawl.

So bummed to not make it to OFFF this year! Love your new shawl though! I got the same book at Stitches Midwest and love it! Just waiting for my yarn to arrive to knit up a new shawl!
