Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.

The first leaves
The first Autumn Monkey sock is almost finished. I started the twisted rib today. I love, love, love this yarn! The first leaves are beginning to turn! Oh happy day! We've had unseasonably warm weather the past few days, but the clouds have moved in and rain is in the forecast for the coming days.
Knitting weather. It's all good!

morning harvest
This morning was clear and star-filled, then the mist moved in. It's autumn, and you're hearing no complaints from Chez NK!
I've turned the heel on my Autumn sock...perhaps I should dub it the tomatoe sock! I absolutely love this yarn!!
My friend Linda is in town for OFFF. She is still blogless, but I'm trying my darndest to rectify that!! We are warming up our credit cards with some knitting and pre-event fiber hunting...we of course don't need to go too far with Twisted and Woolgirl in our neighborhood!
Happy Friday! And we'll be looking for you at OFFF!!!

a fait accompli
You know what a ball of yarn and empty needles mean?!
Pattern: Teosinte by Anne Hanson
Yarn: STR mediumweight in a Rare Gem I've dubbed Summer's Edge
Needles: 2.75mm
Mods: None. They fit perfectly! I heart this pattern!!
Hopefully, there will be a few more glamour shots coming to show the detail of the corn ear patterning.
Remember, this weekend is the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival! This is the best fiber arts festival. A) it takes place in the autumn, B) the drive out is quick and lovely, C) there are little farms along the way to visit, and oh yeh, D) Fibers, fibers, fibers!!! Be there or be square!!
Look who's blocking!
Yep. The Calico Monkey socks made it to the blocking bowl this past weekend. Yippy skippy!
And look at the progress on the Autumn socks from Monday...and, uh, (shuffling feet) yep...they're going to become another pair of Monkey socks...who could've known! LOL!!

Autumn!!!
You know what this is, right?
Perhaps a Pumpkin Spice Latte? And you know what that means, riiiight??
That's correct....IT'S AUTUMN!!!
And here at Chez NK we are celebrating autumn's arrival with great gusto!
A healthy fruit and nut bar...not only yummy, but look at those awesome autumnal colors!!
And to celebrate the launch of a new season...here is the launch of a new sock! Are these colors not ab-fab? Mercy. This is the meager beginning of a toe up sock in Dashing Dachs yarn in the 'Crabby' color...but to my eye, this screams autumn to me...misty mornings, golden Ginkgo leaves, the burning red of a Japanese maple, the warm orange of a Sweet Gum, and a hint of lichen clinging for dear life from the soon to be barren trees...
It's the first day of Autumn and I'm doing a happy dance in my handknit stockinged feet!!
Happy Monday, but most of all ~ Happy Autumn!!

two heels and a toe
Summer's end is just around the corner. Less than 4 days away. Dusk is coming upon us earlier and earlier. The shadows are getting longer and longer. A sure sign that autumn is rapidly approaching is the Sauerkraut festival that is happening this weekend.
Before too long, it will be time to reminisce about the warm light of summer evenings while wearing these socks to keep my toes toasty warm. I, for one, can't wait!

Chaussette du jour
Ahhh....yes. The Calico Monkey socks are coming right along! The first sock was completed while at the beach last weekend...you knew there had to be some knitting time, didn'tcha'? And truth be told, the second one was started while there, too...This pattern goes so fast!
Happy knitting! Happy Wednesday!
psssst....less than 5 days until the first day of Autumn!!! Yee-Haw!

Sixteen Years
We were at the beach last weekend!
Yep! Sixteen years of wedded bliss! The celebration started off at the Original Pancake House on Barbur Blvd for you PDXers! Yum! That would be a picture in very low light of a fresh fruit crepe...peaches, raspberries and blackberries-Oh My!! Tres yum!
We stayed in Manzanita. It was a glorious weekend!
We hung out in the sun...
...walked along the beach looking for treasures...
...enjoyed the sunset
The weekend just flew by!
Happy Anniversary Mr. NK!!!

Out of the shadows
Thank you, thank you to Anya at Crazy Crocheter who nominated me for a "Brilliant Blog" award! I'm so touched and honored. I'm a wee bit behind, but I will be posting 7 nominees shortly.
Cleopatra's Stockings are finished! I love these socks. I took advantage of having my camera with me at work the other day and took a few pictures during lunch in my special picture spot.
Happy Monday!

Friday's Flowers: The Wind
I listen to the wind
To the wind of my soul
Where I'll end up well I think,
Only God really knows
I've sat upon the setting sun
But never, never never never
I never wanted water once
No, never, never, never

de novo
Something new is on the horizon.
The yarn is a rare gem from BMFA. I love the colors. The pattern is Teosinte from the awesome Anne Hanson at knitspot. I'm dubbing the socks "Summer's Edge".
Summer is waning and the brisk autumn days are rapidly approaching. Although the days are still warm, the mornings are edged with a slight chill, telling us that change is afoot.
Little hints of cinnamon and bronze in the mass of green remind me of the first leaves taking the plunge back to earth. The flashes of gold and pink resemble the last of the flowers in the garden exulting in their bloom. Summer will soon be behind us, with autumn just a moment away.
Summer's edge...There's no better place to be.

A stitch in time
Almost finished.
How was your weekend? I was busy over here at Chez NK. Lots of things going on. Deadlines all over the place...but I still found a few minutes to begin casting off the Cleopatra's Stockings...I like the EZ Sewn bind off for toe up socks, it's nice and elastic.
Happy Monday!!
