simplicity

There's something new on the horizon.

Something bright...

...and eyelety...and fun...

...and punctuated with pops of color!

Mr. NK picked the color from my stash, as it was bright and happy and perfect for spring!
I'm calling these socks 'Funfetti'. I think the yarn is STR 'pride'...it's not up on the website right now, and the label is long gone...oy.

I hope you all had a fun weekend!!
Wishing you a great week!

rainy days

The sea breeze socks are back in play.

We enjoyed a double-date for lunch Sunday...our guests were knitting and the camera.

Mr. NK's meatball sandwich was yummy...

...and the coffee was an absolute requirement for warming us up between hail storms!
Me? Turkey and cranberry chutney!! :)

Bon appetit! Bon tricot!!

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing,
wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating;
there is really no such thing as bad weather,
only different kinds of good weather.

spring forward...

to summer!

To "sunflower field" to be exact...

...from my friend Camilla's new shop: Twist and Twine

Are these colors not glorious?! LoveLoveLove. Go check out her shop...you won't be disappointed!

Don't forget to spring forward this weekend...consider it one hour closer to summer!! xo

Bring me then the plant that points to those bright Lucidites swirling up from the earth,
And life itself exhaling that central breath!
Bring me the sunflower crazed with the love of light.

to the morning

When day will break
And you will wake
And you will rake your hands
Across your eyes and realize
That it's going to be a day
There is really no way to say
No to the morning

Yes it's going to be a day
There is really nothing left to say

but come on morning.

muse

...and this crocus...rain, shine, muddy grass...I'm inspired to shoot.

What's your muse?

Wishing you a great weekend...I hope you let your inner child run free!! xo

pairings

There are some great pairings:
Bogie and Bacall
Tracy and Hepburn
Rogers and Astaire
Myrna Loy and William Powell (and Asta makes three!)
hot cocoa and whipped cream
Turkey and dressing
popcorn and butter
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy
Mr. Darcy and Bridget Jones...

and here at Chez NK:
knitting and food!

There is nothing better to accompany a cold February afternoon
than knitting and a cup of hot soup!

Don't salt and pepper shakers make great props for spur of the moment photography?

And the sock...Toasty Twist in STR Currier and Ives.

Oh...the soup...another great pairing, tomato and basil!
And it was good to the last drop!

What is your favorite "pairing"?

Happy Friday Eve! Happy March!

But let there be spaces in your togetherness
and let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another but make not a bond of love:
let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

dreams

We're on a roll here at Chez NK! Hah! I couldn't resist!

The Mad Color Weave socks knit from Becoming Art in Agave 'Sanguine Sky' are finished,

and there are pics to prove it!!

I love this yarn...Like really, really LOVE this yarn!!
And I love how this particular color performed in this pattern...

And the fit is dreamy!

I hope you all are having a great Monday!

time

Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small.
We haven't time, and to see takes time - like to have a friend takes time.

be mine

My Mr. NK is the bestest!
He can pull off the Brooklyn Tweed look like there's no tomorrow!

He does the happy dance  even when it's gray.

Did I mention that he's a comedian extraordinaire?!!
(no models were hurt, but we don't suggest you try this without adult supervision!)

What more could a girl ask for in her Mr. NK??

Happy Valentine's Day!!xo

...and Spring!

Wishing you a bright and wonderful weekend! xo

baby steps

I've noticed a trend in the subject matter of the quotes I've been appending to the end of blog posts. Many of them have to do with progress...I wish I had more to show you more often, but apparently progress takes time...in some cases lots of time! I believe my second most frequent topic is patience :)

I modified these Toasty Twist socks by knitting my new favorite heel...the linen stitch heel. I heart it!

Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having a fantastic week!

Progress, of the best kind, is comparatively slow.
Great results cannot be achieved at once;
and we must be satisfied to advance in life as we walk,
step by step.

beatitude

If you see this from your front door...
...the wise woman turns around and does this.
